How to Increase Your Vertical Jump

Even though we can’t fly, we can jump. When it comes to jumping not everyone is able to achieve really high heights. If you are looking for ways to improve your jumps then you will need to take certains steps towards this goal. Fortunately, there are a number of exercises that are available which can improve your jumping heights. Doing this will soon have you going higher.
WARMING UP
Exercises should never be started without a warm up. People who fail to warm up their muscles stand the all too common risk of developing muscle cramps. Engage in light cardio activity. You can jog gently. The aim is to get your blood pumping.
JUMPING EXERCISES
Once you are done with the warm up you are ready with the begin. You can begin the various exercises. You need to get as much flexibility and thrust in your knees. The following are some of the routines you can do.
Deep Knee Bends – Begin from a standing position. With your backs straight, gradually lower yourself by bending your knees. Bend your knees as low as you possibly can. Repeat this 10 to 15 times.
Deep Knee Bend Jumps – Just like the first, start with your back straight in a standing position. And then, in one swift motion, crouch really low before shooting yourself into the air. As soon as you land , again redo the process. Do 10 to 15 repetitions of this.
Toe Raises – With a firm back, stand tall. Now gradually raise yourself on your toes while keeping your back straight. Hold for a 2 count and then slowly rest back. Try not to rock back and forth. Do 20 reps of this.
Jumping Rope – The secret to jumping higher lies in more jumping. Try engaging in a series of daily jumps with the help of a jump rope. This will improve your reflexes as well as strengthen the muscles required for jumping.

There are other things which you can do to improve the results of your jumping. Losing weight is one of these. People that are lighter are able to jump much higher. For example, athletes who engage in high jumps are mostly slim. People who are overweight and heavy find it difficult to jump high because of the effect of their mass.
