Weight Reduction Tips and Tricks
June 2nd, 2011 by Patsy
There are so many schools of though on weight reduction and weight loss, that I hesitate to even throw more content out onto the interweb, but I hope this will be helpful. I’m not here to waste your time, but to waste your waist… ha ha… get it?
Ahem. As I was saying… there is a lot of information, and much of it is contradictory. Should you eat carbs? What about protein? Is fat really all that bad? What are “good” fats or “good” carbs? Do they really matter? Are there really foods I “must avoid”? What about “1 simple trick” to losing belly fat? It’s just too much!
What I recommend to my clients is to learn the basics for themselves, then if you want a formal program, select one that you feel comfortable with and that jibes with your own philosophy. What we try to do here at Internet Diet Reviews is give you that basic information, to teach and instruct you, as well as give you unbiased opinions on various diet programs and diet plans that are out on the market today.
Weight reduction can only happen, physiologically speaking, when more calories are burned than consumed. Weight gain happens when the opposite occurs. I don’t think anyone will argue with that premise. The arguments begin after that, when you try to define what kinds of food produce what sorts of calories, the best ways to burn calories, etc.
Let’s get calorie burning out of the way first: you have to exercise. You have to exercise. There is no getting around this fact. If you want to lose weight, it is critical. I recommend some aerobic exercise (running is my choice, but I will also accept fast walking, cycling, swimming, Zumba and anything else that gets your heart beating faster… yes, anything).
I also recommend weight training. Use heavy weights to build muscle. Don’t worry about getting bulky, if you are a lady. It’s likely not going to happen. I can’t go into it here, but trust me on this. For the men, you are likely to bulk up some, if that’s what you want to happen. Go do some research. My weight of choice is kettlebells. The evil gift from Russia.
On the nutrition side, I believe in all the food groups, and for lack of any better research, I go with the government food pyramid guidelines. As Americans, as well as a lot of the rest of the “civilized” world, we do not eat enough fruits and vegetables, nor enough whole grains. Despite the “Paleo” craze, I still believe in more grains and veggies and less red meat.
Stick with lean meat, whole grains and raw vegetables, and you can’t go wrong in your weight reduction efforts. I don’t care if you count calories or not. Eat right and exercise and you will lose weight and get fitter.
Out of the many diet programs we review, I think The diet solution is one of the more sensible approaches. Check it out if you want and make your own decision on whether or not it is in line with what you believe will work for you. And what the heck, most of what we review has 60 day money-back guarantees.
